BASKETRY: Reed in Coils

FLAT, FLAT-OVAL, ROUND AND HALF-ROUND REED
All of our reed and (and binder cane too) is cut from the Indonesian jungle vine called “rattan”. Flat, flat-oval and round reed are cut from the inside of the vine, and have a matte surface. Binder cane and chair-weaving cane (see "Strand Cane") are cut from the outside, and have a curved, shiny surface that looks varnished. Reed is generally packaged in coils. Though the weight varies, these coils are often called pounds. All coils of reed on this page, and all coils of binder cane and chair weaving cane, combine for 6+ assorted prices.
