DRAGON TALE YARNS: Tips

Please remember that dye-lots vary; if an exact match matters, be sure to get enough the first time. The dye-lot number is marked inside each cone.

FOR WEAVING
8/2 (cotton & rayon)
sett: 18–20 ends per inch for plain weave
up to 24 for twill
5/2 rayon
sett: 15–16 ends per inch for plain weave
18 or so for twill
4/2 cotton, rayon slub
sett: 12 ends per inch for plain weave
16 for twill
OVERSHOT
Use 8/2 for warp and tie-down (tabby) thread, 4/2 for pattern thread.

These setts have worked well for us. Everybody has their own hand, though, so it is always best to weave a sample swatch before committing significant amounts of time and yarn. A few accent threads of a different weight will not change the sett, but if you use a mix of weights, adjust proportionately. Allow about 20% for shrinkage.

FOR KNITTING
4/2 cotton, one strand (sport weight)
6 stitches/ inch on #4 needles
4/2 cotton, two strands (heavy worsted)
4-4½ stitches/inch on #8s or #9s
Do remember to make a gauge swatch.

FOR CROCHET
4/2 cotton, one strand
About a “D” size hook.
Do remember to make a gauge swatch.

Please do not be constrained by our suggestions for use. We’d love to hear what you discover.
