WEAVING: Loom Manufacturers

We are distributors for the following loom manufacturers. The are good looms, well supported. Generally we will have a larger loom drop-shipped directly to you, and we do pay freight right to your door within the contiguous continental United States.

BEKA
Their rigid heddle looms are inexpensive and extremely portable. There are few limitations of technique imposed by the loom, so the way to exploration is wide open. Beka also makes a very fine line of smaller things: stick and belt shuttles, shed swords, warping boards and inkle looms. And a pair of belt-width looms, specially for children. Mostly cherry wood, some maple, built in the North Woods of Minnesota.
SCHACHT
The best known Schacht Loom is the Baby Wolf, a 25", 4 or 8 harness folding loom nearly as solid as a big loom. The Mighty Wolf is a scaled up version, the Wolf Pup is smaller. Both are usually made in maple. There are also 36" and 45" floor looms, high and low castle, available with jack (rising shed) or counter-balance action. These come in oak and cherry, as well as maple. Schacht also has a pretty line in smaller looms and weaving accessories.
Their spinning wheels and hand tools are equally and deservedly popular. Made in Colorado. Schacht now distributes Cranbrook.
TOIKA
These are Finnish countermarche looms (the sheds separate — stepping on a treadle causes all threads to either rise or fall from the horizontal plane they are in at rest), accompanied by a full line of accessories.
They are made from high-quality Finnish birch, which has been both air and kiln dried. They feature a cog-wheel warp advance system. There are drawloom attachments available. Toika is a family business, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
LOUET
Though we feature more of their Carding and Spinning equipment, Louet does make an extensive line of looms. There are Kombo looms (upgradeable in various way), tapestry looms, the David line (with a sinking-shed jack mechanism) and the Spring 90/110 (parallel counter-marche system). Made in Holland, mostly from beech.
LECLERC
New to us, but not to the rest of the weaving world. We are pleased to represent this family of looms made of selected, well-seasoned, kiln dried Canadian maple. The metal pieces are of aluminium dye cast, cast iron and steel protected by metal enamel or plating.
There is a 15-3/4" table loom (4, 8, 12 or 16 harness), a 24" rigid heddle table loom, and floor looms from 24" to 168" (4 to 16 harness). They are especially proud of the back-hinge treadle mechanism on their jack looms.
