DYES: Cushing "Perfection" Acid Dyes
Cushing "Perfection" Acid Dyes are designed for use on
protein-based fibers: wool, mohair and other animal fibers, and nylon.
They work on some silks, but the Lanaset or Jacquard Acid dyes are a surer
bet. The term "acid" refers to the pH of the dye bath. They
are simple to use, and inexpensive, especially if you only need to dye
a small amount of fiber. Like other acid dyes, they need to work in an
acid environment (a small amount of ordinary white vinegar in the dye-bath
works fine), and need to be set on the fiber by heat, generally provided
by a hot dye-bath. There are 94 pre-mixed colors. A pack will dye 1 LB
